Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs

Ingredients

  • Spare ribs 500g, cut into pieces
  • Vinegar 2 tablespoons
  • Ketchup 3 tablespoons
  • Sugar 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Cornstarch 1 tablespoon, dissolved in water
  • Cooking oil as needed

Steps

  1. Boil a pot of water and blanch the spare ribs for a few minutes to remove any impurities. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together vinegar, ketchup, sugar, soy sauce, and salt to make the sweet and sour sauce.
  3. Heat some cooking oil in a wok and stir-fry the spare ribs until they turn golden brown.
  4. Pour in the sweet and sour sauce and stir-fry until the spare ribs are evenly coated.
  5. Add some water, cover the wok, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the spare ribs are tender.
  6. Remove the cover, stir in the dissolved cornstarch to thicken the sauce, and continue cooking for a few more minutes.
  7. Turn off the heat, transfer the sweet and sour spare ribs to a serving dish, and serve hot.
