Steamed Fish

Ingredients

  • tilapia 1 whole, about 500g
  • Ginger 1 thumb-sized piece, sliced
  • Scallions 2 stalks, sliced
  • Cooking Oil as needed
  • Salt as needed
  • Soy Sauce as needed
  • Shaoxing Wine 1 tablespoon
  • Cilantro as needed

Steps

  1. Clean the fish thoroughly, removing any scales and internal organs.
  2. Make a few diagonal cuts on both sides of the fish.
  3. Rub the fish with salt and let it sit for a few minutes.
  4. Place the fish on a heatproof plate or steaming dish.
  5. Spread the ginger slices and half of the scallions on top of the fish.
  6. Drizzle some cooking oil, soy sauce, and Shaoxing wine over the fish.
  7. Prepare a steamer and bring the water to a boil.
  8. Carefully place the plate with the fish into the steamer.
  9. Cover the steamer and steam the fish over high heat for about 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
  10. Once cooked, carefully remove the plate from the steamer.
  11. Garnish with the remaining scallions and cilantro.
  12. Serve hot and enjoy.
