Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce

Ingredients

  • Pork ribs 500 grams
  • Fermented black beans 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Ginger 1 thumb-sized piece
  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch 1 teaspoon
  • Shaoxing wine 1 tablespoon
  • Water 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
  • Salt To taste
  • White pepper powder To taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the pork spare ribs and pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Mince the fermented black beans. Crush the garlic cloves. Julienne the ginger.
  3. In a bowl, combine the minced fermented black beans, crushed garlic, julienned ginger, soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, Shaoxing wine, water, vegetable oil, salt, and white pepper powder. Mix well to make the black bean sauce.
  4. Place the spare ribs in a steaming dish and pour the black bean sauce over them. Ensure that the spare ribs are evenly coated with the sauce.
